The Classic Choice: High-volume Combinations
High-volume combinations (also known as road trains) consisting of a truck body and trailer, are a classic transport solution commonly found in many transport fleets. As the very name suggests, these vehicles focus on maximising the available load space. GT offers three product lines of this type:
Basic – a series of structures made of high-strength steel, galvanised in one of the most modern galvanising plants in Europe. As with most GT products, the greatest value of this line lies in its personalisation possibilities. The Basic combination can be equipped, among other things, with a docking station for FLT’s or many roofing variants (e.g. sliding or fixed roofs with a lifting option).
Presitge – a series of products dedicated to the most demanding customers. The frames and floors of these structures are made entirely of aluminium profiles, thus achieving the best performance in terms of low tare weight, which has a bearing on increased loading capacity and reduced fuel costs. Moreover, these combinations retain all advantages of the Basic series.
System 2504 – this patent-protected proprietary solution is the only internal cargo hold system in Europe with a width of 2504 mm, which allows for retaining an external dimension of 2550 mm. It was developed to carry particularly demanding loads such as cans, PVC pipes and polystyrene. The combination itself can be made with aluminium (known from the Prestige series) or steel (Basic) finishing.
In addition, all such combinations manufactured by our company are equipped with the so-called Anti-Tip – GT’s proprietary solution which reduces the risk of a single-axle trailer tipping over during very windy days.
Which Semi-trailer to Buy?
A separate category of products offered by Gniotpol Trailers are semi-trailers designed for use with tractors. The vehicle combinations created in this way are an excellent tool for transporting specific types of products. GT offers various types of semi-trailers with a wide range of customisation options:
Lightweight single-axle semi-trailers are the definition of optimisation in transport. Thanks to the use of proprietary aluminium profiles, the unladen weight is 2.5 tonnes, which, with a GVW of 7 tonnes, allows us to achieve a payload of up to 4,500 kg and a volume of 15 europallets. Together with a hydraulic lift, we can have a compact combination that will work well in the event of restrictions on large trucks traffic.
N1 Semi-trailers, which are popular for transporting furniture and are produced in van and curtain-sided options. Basing the whole structure on a single axle ensures a low tare weight of 5500 kg, while maintaining a volume of 98 cubic metres. Functional equipment greatly facilitates the work of the driver and the people who are involved in loading the goods.
MAX SPACE semi-trailers are a continental rarity – Gniotpol Trailers is one of few manufacturers to have them on offer. Their distinctive feature is the multi-level floor, which maximises the loading space. This makes them a perfect means of transport for beverages – hence their alternative name, “beverage semi-trailers”.
Is It The Right Time To Implement a BDF System?
A separate category of solutions are swap-body systems, also known in Poland as BDF systems. Their implementation is connected with the company’s introduction to the intermodal transport and the associated optimisation of logistics processes. We have talked more about this topic both on our blog on a number of occasions (where we have also told how BDF solutions are influencing the development of the industry) as well as at the IMS Intermodal Show– an event dedicated to the intermodal transport. Today we are going to focus on a brief introduction to the product itself.
The BDF systems offered by GT consist, like the high-volume combinations, of two parts: a built-up vehicle and a trailer. The difference is in the specifics of the design: the body on this type of combinations can be easily swapped, allowing the driver to take on a new load without having to unload the goods first.
The swap-body systems are therefore a great solution wherever the priority is to optimise the transport process. They can, for example, simplify the functioning of internal logistics chains by speeding up the transport process between the factory and the warehouse.
